Day Four :{>

Today has been great... Last night I got up for a drink of water and as I stood in the dark waiting for my glass to fill I was reminded to thank God for water. "Water?" you may say! I have belonged to several groups of people who help get fresh clean water to people all over the world that need it. And with the current events in Hatti I have mixed emotions about it.

I thanked God for the clean, filtered, cold water flowing from my refrigerator that is full of food, which is powered by the electricity in my own home that I share with only my family, with my three cars out front, that have tanks full of gas, that take me anywhere I want to go....

Lets just say in that moment I was very Thankful. In 1994 I spent three months in Hatti and for years I have had a negative opinion of the country. It is by far the most beautiful island I have ever been on but it was very primitive, native if you wish. I dealt with the people who were just one mission trip past savage. The Marine Corps advised us that the country was 85% AIDS infested and that the militia w consisted of Native tribes that had been given clothes and decommissioned firearms. The Corps told us not to be surprised if we were attacked with spears and rocks. So my opinion has always been low, but the news is making the world pour their hearts out to the damage in Hatti. Port A Prince is the only city I saw that had multi leveled buildings and an earthquake would have been a blessing.

All that aside, I pray this earthquake helps the people of Hatti advance in their civilization and I hope it causes the rest of us to realize that even at our poorest we are truly blessed.

Thank You God for WATER...

Day Two of the Journey...

OK Day two had started off ruff, I'm cold, I'm tired, I made some decisions. Upped the no Mt. Dew to only drinking water. Defiantly no red meat, and trying to limit TV time. We tried to talk the kids into no TV after eight, but you can imagine the response we got from two teenage boys. Then I had to consider the fact that if you force the fast then the kids aren't drawing closer to God, their being punished. So the next best thing is to model it to them the right way.

One of the thoughts for today read;

"Have you ever been searching for a radio station only to be frustrated by finding static rather than music? You then focus to fine tune the dial again, and suddenly you hear a clear signal. The fact is, the signal always existed on the airwaves; the only difference is that now you have adjusted your tuner to the right frequency."

This thought is about to be outgrown by the idea that all radios are going digital and people don't need the soft touch to turn the knob just enough to get the right frequency anymore, but the idea is still solid.

Prayer is the tuner. Just like with the radio you may not be hearing what you want so you keep adjusting. Prayer is the same, if you are only getting static, keep praying till you hear from God.

Speaking of Prayer, it time to get tuned...

Ready... Set... Fast...?

Today starts day one of a hopefully life changing journey... and I am hungrier than I have been in days.

I have numerous goals today: Decide what to fast and why... I'm sure Mt. Dew, TV and Red Meat should be at the top of my list. Then decide why God would have me Fast. I now all the reasons I think he wants me to but do we agree, or am I being shady?

I feel the need to make a list... I hate lists!

Bible reading, that went well today... Was in Genesis reading about Abraham, The father of many Nations. He did some pretty screwed up stuff. God told him that he would give him a son and when God didn't do it right away, Abraham and his wife decided that he should have a baby (Ishmael) with her servant, and he did... HELLO !!!! That's messed up! Then 13 years later God gave him a son (Isaac) with his wife who was like 90 years old.

It gets crazier, Ishmael, who's only effort in this was being conceived, God says "He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and every one's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers." I just don't get it. I know this is all pre Jesus but it is still the same God. How are we as humans, who don't speak to God verbally, supposed to know what he wants out of us when we mix in; self, spirit, mind, emotions, and soul.

I can't even figure out my own family that I live with daily, how can I figure out God.

Well I guess that answers my why question.

Prayer... well that is a whole nother topic...

Dear Mr. President

This is from an article in the St. Petersburg , FL Times Newspaper on Sunday.
The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"
I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President:

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings -
Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered-
Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage-
Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes...

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

If not, please disregard. Then shoot yourself!!!! ..... 1 job opening
